The G.U.I.L.D. Academy @ New Babbage is the first in a series of academies for the Center for Advanced Technology in Education at the University of Oregon. These academies, disbursed throughout Second Life and other virtual worlds, provide research and teacher training in immersive environments. Their small footprint allows them to become an integral part of the existing communities in which they live.
We believe that it is the sense of community that makes online worlds so successful. Likewise, it will be this sense of community that will make the Online World an ideal setting for teaching and learning in the 21st century.
